Essant is consultancy led, and puts the client's needs first. Our five-stage, ‘lifecycle’ methodology provides a client engagement framework that ensures that things are done in the right order, at the right time, with the right people involved. This also ensures Essant’s engagement dovetails into other concepts and practices for managing IT, such as ITIL, adopted by the client.

Each phase, and even specific aspects and tasks, can be implemented as individual work-streams, however we find that that a client will gain greater competitive advantage from their network by engaging with Essant over the complete network lifecycle.

Move your mouse cursor over the areas of the lifecycle diagram to reveal more information on that phase.

This is generally the first phase of our engagement with a client, before we do anything we need to understand what is currently in place both from a network technology perspective and what the business goals and aspirations of the client are. In many cases we find that a network has grown both organically and by company acquisitions and mergers and it often helps to take a step back to baseline and test what is currently in place before moving forward, the Essant Proactive Network Healthcheck (PNH) is an ideal vehicle for doing this and in many cases provides a excellent point of initial client engagement. In addition to the PNH Essant would also carry out performance tests, review as is documentation carry out an initial Network Readiness Assessment for any particular future projects that are being planned and discussed.

Specific tasks carried out during the Assure phase include:

Understand Business Requirements
Health Check, Performance Test and Baseline existing Network Infrastructure
Carry out Network Readiness Assessment

We believe that the key benefits of the Essant Lifecycle approach include:

Reduced total cost of network ownership due to the network being architected to suit the business's needs and future plans.
Improved business agility brought about by speeding the access to applications and services for decision making and transaction execution.
Increased availability of critical services enabled by a resilient, carefully planned and implemented, scalable network.
Essant has an established team of CCIE certified engineers and technology experts, who have worked together for many years at Planet Online, Datarange and - through acquisition - Energis, now Cable & Wirleless.

The technical team is complemented by a professional services team, comprising business consultants, programme and project managers, to provide the optimum blend of expert capability to deliver resource when, where and how it is required.

Our base of engineers are trained to the highest level and have been responsible for delivering groundbreaking networked solutions, including the core networks that deliver national TV and radio broadcasts, amongst others.

Ongoing investment in training, development and recruitment ensures we can offer world-class service delivery, underpinned by unparalleled expertise - essential for the scoping, design, implementation and management of the UK's leading IP networks.
